Birthday Bash... Chapter 3!!!

Our meal which would have been fit for a king and his nobles concluded around 10ish and we decided to get back to the village. Now I should explain something about Hampi. Its a place filled with temples, rich history and architecture. At any point of the time you will feel more in a foreign country rather than its India because of the number of foreigners one finds over there. I also must confess its a very peaceful place and I normally frequent there to gather my thoughts or ponder about somethings. Also only the main area or temple area is well lit while everything else simply closes after 6PM and one can only visit those places if you know the area and in your own car or bike. So the journey back from the restaurant(New Shanthi)is through the darkness and road & route only lit up via the lights emitting from our bikes that's all. The journey back at night is both exciting and nerve wrecking. I also think I saw a ghost – yup a lone man old and gaunt was walking without a stick, a light, mobile phone or a torch into a dark field... I didn't see how he came and I didn't see how he left, he came from the shadows and disappeared into the shadows – spooky isn't it?? Brr... back to the story, apart from that incident, we were still doing our usual monkey tricks of driving without our headlights (yes even though it was pitch dark), singing songs, drivers dancing on their seats etc Lol. It was unique to say the least :)!!!

So we finally returned back to the village and I thought we done for the day – well far from it. We ended up at a pal's house playing some cards, music, singing, sharing ghost stories, cracking jokes and also somehow we ended up dancing too *dont ask how :D!!!*

In the end I must say it was right up there in the list of awesome birthday's I had. Pity it had to end so soon.

More posting coming...

Sorry folks for not updating my blog for a while. Reason is I got caught up in exams, traveling and some other stuff which left me very little time to upload my musings.

Well rest assured I am not shutting up shop and shortly the posts will be uploaded.

Thanks.

Birthday Bash.... Chapter 2!!!

Second installment of my birthday bash. Since it would have been one massive blog post i had earlier decided to shrink the post then i realized after writing the entry it didn't reflect the experience it was. Thus i finally decided to write the entries in chapters - more space to express and more curiosity :)!! Find the First Chapter here

So where was I? Ahh yes planning lunch hour. The idea was thrown in the air for me to complete my pending work and skip the afternoon session to freak out (yeah i know in a village how is that possible??). To my surprise i took the bait goaded my other fellow Gang-members to follow suit. Sadly only 2 were ready and willing thus the 3 idiots/musketeers were off to lunch only to wait for two and half hours to complete it(sacrilege I know). Dishes ordered were sure exotic such as Khumb Akbari to Murg Lababdar to Chicken Saloni supplemented by Rajma, Garlic Naans (bread), Butter Roti (bread) and Plain Naan (Bread again :D!!). Good meal further pleasing by a waiter who kept throwing good Shayari (poetry) at us. After lunch we decided since it was just 5PM (yeah we started lunch at 2.20PM) so onwards we go to Hampi (World Heritage Site) picking another mate on the way.

While en route to Hampi, we decided to jump into a canal just for the heck of it. Like mindless idiots two friends peeled off their clothes and jumped in only to jump straight back out screaming "It's Cold, It's Freakin' Cold!!" Lol. That didn't stop us though and we braved the cold to enjoy the dip only to realize while getting out that we neither had a change of clothes nor towels!! brr... now its well after 6PM nice cool breeze which became ever more chilly considering we were wet and driving fast!!! Oh it was a sight to see - shivering, chattering doing crazy stunts on bike but still pleased with our actions!!! We somehow got to Hampi only to quickly jump back into a restaurant!!! (It was nearing 7PM, we were hungry :D!!!!!!) We ordered Steamed & Fried Momo's, Al-Capone Pizze (drool), Lasagna Pomdoro, Hot Lemon tea, Masala Chai(Tea), Cafe Kerala and Black espresso!!! What a meal what a day fit for a King!!!

To be concluded in Chapter 3!!!

"the Gang"

The best thing about city slickers is that when they are thrust into a place not having multistory buildings, pubs, colorful birdlife and movie halls; they tend to stick together and a bond will be formed. That is what happened here as well. As stated earlier, I'm going to pen a few words of introduction on "the Gang" in my village which has kept me entertained, exhausted, adventurous and constantly pushing the limits of human endurance for the past 8 odd months. These are the members of the Village Fellowship:

*Disclaimer: Names used here and actions stated are fictitious and are only used in friendly name calling though some activities are true and apt for characters. The characters are not associated with any real life characters and if any relation found then its crap and you need to get a life :D!!!*

1) Gandphat - One of the avatars created by us. An athletic dude with a never ending tank for drinks. He's one of the trio of Nawabs hailing from Hyderabad. Loves his bike, his chicken, cleaning house and ofc drinks :D!!! Meet Gandphat!!!

2) aAaRrrVvv/Cheeen ki Chaddi - Man with an inquisitive touch. Loves tinkering in photoshop, getting folks to take his solo snaps and group snaps. Loves speed and management jargon (Prospective MBA in making :D!!!) Gregarious and outgoing and is the second Nawab of the trio.

3)TB/Bakarbaaj - Ahh the quintessential creative dude with the art of lighting up a room with his humor and unique fundas :D!!! Quirky at times and likes to throw Godfather lines at you to influence your thought process. Loves to fly, talk and ride cruise bikes. Meet the man hailing from the Himachal - TB aka Bakaarbaaj!!!

4) K2J/ Cheen ka naada - Now comes the number man. Loves crunching excel sheets, talking about Kolkata, markets and IT related news. Another man with a tub for a stomach (which never gets filled) when it comes to drinks and also gets jelly kneed at the sight of anything sweet. :D!! Meet the tweaker, rule abider, photoshop junkie and number cruncher K2J aka Cheen ka naada!!!

5) Anna - The wise sage of the group. Simple, down to earth and has good taste in music. Another dude in the gang who has a tank for stomach for drinks. Has his own philosophy on life and quick grasper of things. Unique in his actions and fearless meet P.Anna!!!!

6) Sidz: Our local guide :). Brilliant, smart, sincere and hardworking (i guess only Gandphat can give him proper competition on the former stated adjectives at office :D!!) Sidz is a fun loving character who is living his life in the moment rather than in past or future and always gives his all for friends.

well there you have it.... "the Gang" who have partied hard in a tiny village, explored the length & breadth of the village (& beyond), celebrated tiny occasions and created countless memories that will be cherished by all. I hope we remain in touch no matter where we are once we part from the village but for now Party on!!

Hurray I'm a year older not sure about the wiser part but older for sure!! It was a fun and unique birthday. Why unique? Cake smearing and getting bumps in office, seeing professionals turned to kids on the sight of cake, jumping into freezing canal water during winter and driving & shivering on account of having no change of clothes.

Let me expand. Here i thought my birthday was going to be a sober simple quiet day and night. Well at the turn of 12 it did seem like that as i was quietly sleeping enjoying my solitude when it was broken by the phone rings Arrrgh dont you just hate that? so it began my adventure of answering calls and replying SMS's. I was finally free at 3.30AM only to be woken up again at 6 Garr... i knew then it was futile to think of sleeping again. I was thinking of not going to work but alas I had to and to my frustration punched in late. Oh boy! From here on the birthday wishes, meet 'n' greets took a twist for the sinister (:p)!! My gang (a blog entry will be up soon on "the Gang") arranged a treat up in the office lounge - a cake, gift and of course camera's. Once the cake was cut and everyone stuffed themselves then it began - cake smearing, bumps and the natural chorus cry of TREATTT!!!! Lol... it was a fun 60 minutes. After distributing the cake in my floor and having coffee plans were being planned to loot me!!! Come lunch hour....
To be continued........

One of those days....

Sigh yes its true, its not a myth. Its the "One of those days" syndrome where one wants to be under the covers tucked in tightly into the bed forget everything and go into dreamland - only to realize you have work and no more leaves. Sigh.

Yes folks today is one of those days where nothing goes right and you dread what is next. I normally get up by 4-4.30 as I slipped into a routine but today I couldn't nay didn't want to get up and somehow managed to get up by 8am. I can live with oversleeping (occasionally ofc) but the current outages(4 hours and counting - yup currents not yet back bravo KEB bravo), raining in the night/early morning, gas getting over, no hot water (its chilly now) as well as punching in late for work makes you realize everything would have been so much better if you had just slept in.

Oh well at least I can study and work on my Resolutions :(!!! *fingers crossed*
